Bailey Tredway, born in Wichita, KS, is a non-binary multimedia artist currently living and working in Lawrence, KS. Mainly working with photography, Tredway also works with writing and illustration, oftentimes utilizing printed mediums to expand outside of photography. Throughout their work, they implements more abstract, slow-shutter photographs in combination to more formally-composed images to clearly articulate their ideas. Underlying throughout their work are commentaries and documentation of intimate experiences, memories, and relationships. Their recent work combines text with images, exploring the concept of the book as an art object. While brutally intimate, the use of writing brings viewers to dark moments they keep private.
Tredway currently attends the University of Kansas pursuing a BFA in Photography, a minor in Art History, and a certificate in Book Arts. They love their cat, natural wine, and hoarding library books.
